What are the Main Uses of Vessel Head?

Vessel head is an end cap on pressure vessel and is a main pressure bearing part of pressure vessel. The role played is a sealing role. One is made into the top and bottom of the tank shaped pressure vessel, and the other is that the pipe reaches the head and is not going to be extended forward, then a head is used to seal the pipe in the form of welding. Similar to the role of vessel head, there are blind plate and pipe cap, but those two products can be disassembled. But these two products can be disassembled, while the vessel head can not be disassembled after welding. The fittings that match with them are pressure vessels, pipes, flanges, elbows, tees, crosses and other products.

The quality of the vessel tank head is directly related to the long term safe and reliable operation of the pressure vessel.

Vessel tank head defects and solutions

(1) Deformation: caused by uneven thickness between the bulk of the disc and the actual thickness of the joint itself, uneven punching and punching force or uneven heat and cold treatment.

Solution: The principle of thermal expansion and contraction can be used to heat the deformedvesselhead and then cool it quickly with water, or it can be corrected by spinning.

2) Scratch: It is mainly caused by improper operation in the process of handling. For example: hook scratches, forklift scratches.

Solution: Firstly, pad protective film on the contact surface of hook and forklift and vessel head, and after scratching, polish, and make up welding if it is serious, and the scratching area over 25% should be treated as a whole.

(3) Thinning rate: Uniform thickness of formed vessel head can avoid stress concentration and increase the service life of vessel head. Determine the processing margin according to manufacturing process to ensure that the thickness of convex tank head and hot rolled cylinder section after forming is not less than the nominal thickness of the part minus the negative deviation of steel plate.

(4) Pockmark: The pockmark phenomenon may be due to the pockmark on the surface of the plate itself, or it may be caused by the unclean treatment of the die vessel head in each process of stamping, drum pressing and spinning.

Solution: The lighter pitting phenomenon can be treated by grinding, more than 0.2mm should be welded, and after welding, polish and hurry up.

(5)Orange peel phenomenon: most of the orange peel phenomenon out of the plate itself has the phenomenon of layering, however, the naked eye is not observed, only in the stamping, pressing drum process, the orange peel phenomenon can be found.

Solution: The shallow orange peel phenomenon can be cleaned by fine polishing, and the deeper ones need to be patched and polished after patched welding.

(6)Bulging: due to the crimping die crimping force is too small, but also may be caused by uneven material thickness.

Solution: Use the bulge trimmer, if you can't correct it, you need to correct it by spinning, little by little.
