What’s the Titanium Tube?

Titanium tube is light in weight, high in strength and superior in mechanical properties. It is widely used in heat exchange equipment, such as tube heat exchangers, coil heat exchangers, serpentine tube heat exchangers, condensers, evaporators and conveying pipes. Many nuclear power industries use titanium tubes as standard tubes for their units.

Titanium tubes are manufactured according to two national standards: GB/T3624-2010 GB/T3625-2007 ASTM B337 338

Advantages of titanium tubes:

1. Titanium tubes have plasticity. The elongation of high purity titanium tube can reach 50~60%, and the shrinkage rate of the section can reach 70~80%. Although the strength of high-purity titanium tube is low, but pure industrial titanium contains a small amount of impurities and the addition of alloying elements can significantly strengthen its mechanical properties, so that its strength can be compared with the high strength. That is to say, industrial pure titanium tube, as long as a small number of interstitial impurities and other metal impurities, it can be made both high strength, but also have the appropriate plasticity.

2. Industrial pure titanium tube than the strength (strength to weight ratio) in the metal structure of the material is very high, its strength and steel, but its weight is only 57% of steel.

3. The heat resistance of titanium tubes is very strong, in 500 ℃ in the atmosphere can still maintain good strength and stability.

4. Titanium tube also has good resistance to low temperature, even in -250 ℃ ultra-low temperature, it still has a high impact strength, can resist high pressure and vibration.

5. Strong corrosion resistance, which is due to its affinity for oxygen is particularly large, can generate a dense oxide film on its surface, can protect titanium from media corrosion. Therefore, titanium in acidic, alkaline, neutral brine solution and oxidizing medium with good stability, than the existing stainless steel and other non-ferrous metal corrosion resistance are good.
